Fluorescent Lights Hurt One-in-Four People

Photophobia, or light sensitivity, is an intolerance of light. Sunlight, fluorescent lights, bright light, glare, and even headlights and lights at night can be bothersome.

There are a variety of symptoms that can be caused by sensitivity to light including eye strain, fatigue, sleepiness, nausea, dizziness, anxiety, irritability, and discomfort. Lights may also be a trigger for headaches and migraines. Sometimes photophobia/light sensitivity is a symptom of a head injury (TBI), concussion, or whip lash or the result of underlying medical problems. Helen Irlen, the world expert in scotopic sensitivity syndrome, has this to say:

"Nearly one-quarter of the world's population will suffer negative physical effects if this legislation is allowed to pass. For this portion of the population, fluorescent light triggers headaches, migraines, stomachaches, fatigue, eye strain, anxiety, and irritability. Fluorescent lights can also negatively impact the immune system, literally making people sick. Energy conservation is an important goal that we should strive to achieve, but there are ways to conserve energy that do not hurt 25% of the population. Please don't let your government hurt the people you love. Please sign the petition and send this information to others asking them to sign the petition."
Let me Repeat...
25% of humans have difficulty dealing with fluorescent lighting!

Personally, I want to live green. As green as I can. But the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 prevision to phase out incandescent bulbs is NOT the answer.

Yes, to all of the above comments! This information should be common knowledge, but it is NOT being broadcast by our politically correct media. Mandated exclusive use of flourescent bulbs will POISON this country, and SICKEN or KILL its people. I and one of my sons get sick when we are exposed to flourescent bulbs. I was very ill until I had the mercury fillings removed from my teeth, while the ADA was still adamantly insisting that mercury fillings were harmless. Just a week or so ago the ADA has quietly admitted mercury is a neurotoxin and should never be used in fillings.
A few atoms of mercury vapor escaping from flourescent lights and being inhaled to cause auto-immune disorders (such as Hashimoto's Thyroid disease, as I suffer from) would be very difficult to trace, but would, nevertheless, cause immense suffering.
I hope the people in this country (and the world) wake up before they unleash a worldwide blanket of toxic mercury vapor that will pollute and sicken people far more than any supposed "global warming" may.

Fluorescent Lights are a biochemical hazard with mercury that is inducing a vast number of medical problems.
We need the incandescent light bulbs or we will face a medical, monetary and ethical defamation with fluorescent lights.
Fluorescent light bulbs have mercury which is a toxic chemical that can induce bio-chemical hazards. Fluorescent lights have increased a vast number of seizures, headaches, skin cancer, brain tumors and heart problems. This minute amount of problems will grow to a vast number of other health hazards.
We need incandescent light bulbs because they do not induce a vast number of medical and monetary problems.
